Reading by Volker Ranisch

Heinrich Mann’s novel “Professor Garbage or the Small Town Tyrant” is a story of crossing social barriers and his ensuing decline in social status. Yet it is also the story of a great, romantic yet basically impossible love… The novel “Professor Garbage” was Heinrich Mann’s greatest success. The film adaptation, “The Blue Angel” starring Marlene Dietrich and Emil Jannings in the lead roles, made the book world famous. This evening of theatre links the film and the book resulting in a new and unexpected conclusion. Event in german.

Their programme knows no bounds. This enables the artistes to appear to be ageless and realistically portray emotional characters such as Piaf, and many others, while seamlessly changing perspective and leaving behind their own musical imprint.
